Summer Short Film Cinema
Hand in hand with the Salamanca Film Commission, the Oeste neighborhood will once again host a new edition of Salamanca's Summer Short Film Cinema, starting next Thursday, June 1st.
For four Thursdays in June, the people of Salamanca will be able to enjoy the best selection of short films from the audiovisual scene thanks to the catalog of short films from the CortoEspaña Traveling Festival, with whom the organizers have collaborated again in this outdoor screening program.
Thus, starting at 22:15h and free of charge, these screenings will take place on Thursdays, June 1st, 8th, 22nd, and 29th, on Granero Street, featuring twenty of the best national and international short films, which will compete for the award for best short film in the national CortoEspaña competition. At the end of each screening, attending viewers will be able to vote for their favorite short film from each event.
The Summer Short Film Cinema is an event dedicated to cinema and short films that emerges as a continuation of the Salamanca Short Film Festival, a competition with great national and international participation that was held annually in the 'charra' city since 2007. For its part, the CortoEspaña Traveling Festival, with whom the organizers have reached a stable collaboration agreement, is currently the largest event centered around short films in our country, with more than 30,000 spectators gathered annually in its more than one hundred events throughout the country.
In previous editions, the Summer Short Film Cinema managed to gather hundreds of spectators on its warm summer and cinema nights, screening some of the best short films from the current scene. As on other occasions, the public's votes will be fully collected to determine which works are, on average along with the votes from the rest of CortoEspaña events, the audience's favorites, and thus receive the first, second, third, or fourth Audience Award, endowed respectively with 2,000, 1,000, 500, and 250 euros respectively.
This new edition of the Summer Short Film Cinema, organized by Salamanca Film Commission (Salamanca City Council), has the collaboration of Granero bar, filmmaker and screenwriter Javier Díez, and the ZOES neighborhood association, as well as the sponsorship of Coca Cola and Mahou.
Among the works that can be seen, the presence of short films recognized in numerous competitions stands out, such as Thorns, The Light, Carnivore, or A Blue Story, as well as the great variety of formats, genres, and styles of the shorts, where the rich presence of animation works should be highlighted.
