Summer Short Film Cinema 2024
Salamanca's Oeste neighborhood will host a new edition of Summer Short Film Cinema, a free outdoor cultural event for summer nights, which achieves great public success every year.
Organized by the Salamanca City Council through the Salamanca Film Commission, over four Thursdays in May and June 2024, attendees will be able to enjoy an excellent catalog of short films, provided by the CortoEspaña Traveling Festival, which will bring back the magic of the best summer cinema nights to the Oeste neighborhood.
An unmissable event for all lovers of the seventh art in short format and for all residents of the area, who will be able to see a comprehensive program of high-quality short films, with titles such as Paris 70 (by Dani Feixas, 15’), Tied Up (by Carmen Córdoba, 10’), The Madwoman and the Feminist (by Sandra Gallego, 12’) or A Shitty Therapy (by Javier Polo Gandía, 10’), all of them nominated in the latest Goya Awards.
The chosen dates will be Thursdays May 30th, June 6th, 20th, and 27th for the screenings of this 2024 edition, all outdoors and free of charge for anyone who wants to enjoy the short films. The screenings will take place on Granero street in the Oeste neighborhood, an unbeatable area of Salamanca city, which for many years has become a nerve center for the city's most artistic and student atmosphere.
Among the other short films that will be screened in this edition of Salamanca's Short Film Cinema, we find well-known faces, such as actors and actresses Ana Polvorosa, Luis Zahera, Sara Escudero, Pablo Rivero, Karra Elejalde, Daniel Grao, Luis Bermejo, Adelfa Calvo, Luisa Gavasa, or Pepe Viyuela. It is worth noting the great variety of genres and themes of the short films in the program, as well as the significant presence of animation works.
The CortoEspaña Traveling Festival gathers the best short film works produced in Spain during the year in a catalog, screening this program in dozens of cities and towns across Spain with great attendance success, managing to bring together thousands of viewers annually.
Furthermore, as in previous years, spectators will have the opportunity to rate the short films screened each night, voting for the best short film of the competition for the annual Feroz Audience Awards, which include the best Spanish short films.
Each screening session will last between 70 and 75 minutes, with a short break between the third and fourth short film of the night. Up to six short films can be seen in each screening.
The Summer Short Film Cinema is an event that has been held regularly since 2007 in Salamanca's Oeste neighborhood, organized by the Granero bar and by filmmaker Javier Díez (www.javierdiezm.es), with the collaboration of the Salamanca City Council, through its film promotion office Salamanca Film Commission, part of the Tourism department, and the ZOES Neighborhood Association, as well as the essential sponsorship of the Mahou and Coca Cola brands.
