The Oeste neighborhood of Salamanca will host, starting Thursday, May 29th, a new edition of the Summer Short Film Festival, organized by Salamanca Film Commission. Over the next few weeks, residents of Salamanca will be able to enjoy a curated selection of short films in free outdoor sessions, in collaboration with the catalog of the Traveling Festival CortoEspaña.
The screenings will be held on Thursdays, May 29th, June 5th, 19th, and 26th, on Granero street, starting at 10:15 PM. Each day, five short films will be presented, totaling twenty titles that will compete in the national CortoEspaña competition. Additionally, the public will be able to vote for their favorite short film at the end of each session.
The selected works include some of the most awarded short films in recent Spanish cinema, many of them recognized at the Fugaz Awards for Spanish Short Films, chosen by a commission of over 1,500 professionals from the audiovisual sector. Among them, Goya Award-winning titles such as Cafuné, To Bird or Not to Bird, or La gran obra (also a Sundance winner and Oscar pre-selected), as well as nominees like El trono, stand out.
The cast and directing teams bring together top-level names from the Spanish audiovisual scene such as Manu Baqueiro, Marta Belenguer, Vito Sanz, Paula Usero, Salva Reina, Luis Bermejo, Alba Flores, or Guillermo Toledo, alongside filmmakers like David Pérez Sañudo, Eva Libertad, and Lucía Jiménez.
This new edition, organized by Salamanca Film Commission, has the collaboration of Bar Granero, filmmaker and screenwriter Javier Díez, the ZOES neighborhood association, and the sponsorship of Coca-Cola and Mahou.
