Summer Short Film Cinema in Salamanca
From 22:15h and free of charge, on Thursdays June 2nd, 9th, 16th, and 23rd, these screenings will take place on Granero street, featuring twenty of the best national and international short films, which will compete for the award for best short film in the CortoEspaña national competition.
It is a dynamic show with different choreographies adapted to the space of Plaza de Anaya.
At the end of each screening, attending spectators will be able to vote for their favorite short film from each event.
This new edition of the Summer Short Film Cinema, organized by Salamanca Film Commission (Salamanca City Council), has the collaboration of Bar Granero, filmmaker and screenwriter Javier Díez, and the ZOES Neighborhood Association, as well as the sponsorship of Coca Cola and Mahou.
The West neighborhood of Salamanca will once again host, starting next Thursday, June 3rd, after a two-year mandatory hiatus due to the pandemic, a new edition of the ‘Salamanca Summer Short Film Cinema,’ hand in hand with Salamanca Film Commission.
During the first four Thursdays of June, residents of Salamanca will be able to enjoy the best selection of short films from the audiovisual scene thanks to the catalog of short films from the CortoEspaña Itinerant Festival, with whom the organizers are collaborating again in this outdoor screening program. Thus, from 22:15h and free of charge, on Thursdays June 2nd, 9th, 16th, and 23rd, these screenings will take place on Granero street, featuring twenty of the best national and international short films, which will compete for the award for best short film in the CortoEspaña national competition. The Summer Short Film Cinema is an event for cinema and short films that emerges as a continuation of the Salamanca Short Film Festival, a competition with great national and international participation that took place annually in the 'charra' city since 2007. For its part, the CortoEspaña Itinerant Festival, with whom the organizers have reached a stable collaboration agreement, is currently the largest event around short films in our country, with more than 30,000 spectators gathered annually in its more than one hundred events throughout the country.
In previous editions, the Summer Short Film Cinema managed to gather hundreds of spectators on its hot summer and cinema nights, screening some of the best short films from the current scene. As on other occasions, public votes will be collected in their entirety to determine which works are, on average along with the votes from the rest of CortoEspaña events, the audience's favorites, and thus receive the first, second, third, or fourth audience award, endowed with 2,000, 1,000, 500, and 250 euros respectively.
Among the works that can be seen, the presence of short films recognized in numerous competitions stands out, such as Stanbrook, Fly, Those Who Keep Silent or Hold for applause, or the Goya nominees Umbrellas and The Ephemeral, as well as the great variety of formats, genres, and styles of the short films, where the rich presence of animation works is noteworthy.
