PREMIERE OF WHILE AT WAR AT THE LICEO THEATER
Filmmaker Alejandro Amenábar will present his new film, While at War, a feature film about Miguel de Unamuno and the first days of the Spanish Civil War, this Thursday at 8:00 PM in Salamanca.
Accompanied by actors Karra Elejalde and Patricia Lopez Arnáiz, producers Fernando Bovaira and Domingo Corral, screenwriter Alejandro Hermández, among other team members, he will visit the University of Salamanca and the City Council in the morning, and in the afternoon, he will attend the preview screening at the Liceo Theater.
Specifically, he will be at 11:45 AM in the Patio de Escuelas Mayores and will then visit the Historic Building. Afterwards, at 12:30 PM, he will participate in a press conference at the Unamuno House Museum.
At 1:30 PM, he will go to the Plaza Mayor and will be received at the Salamanca City Council by the mayor, Carlos García Carbayo, with the presence of the president of the Junta de Castilla y León, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, and the rector of USAL, Ricardo Rivero.
Finally, at 8:00 PM at the Liceo Theater in Salamanca, the film screening will begin, with the presence, among others, of Alejandro Amenábar and actors Karra Elejalde, Eduard Fernández, Santi Prego, Patricia Lopez Arnáiz, Carlos Serrano-Clark, Luis Zahera, Tito Valverde, Luis Callejo, Ainhoa Santamaría, Mireia Rey, Jorge Andreu, along with producers Fernando Bovaira and Domingo Corral.
The film has participated in the Toronto and San Sebastian International Film Festivals. Produced by Movistar+, MOD Producciones, Himenóptero, K&S Films, and MDLG A.I.E, it will hit cinemas this Friday, distributed by Buena Vista Internacional.
The feature film had the support of the Salamanca City Council, through the Salamanca Film Commission, which participated in the entire process of location scouting, permits, press, casting organization, assignment of municipal buildings, removal of anachronistic elements… additionally, the council has collaborated in the film's financing with an economic contribution of 80,000 euros managed by the Salamanca Tourism, Commerce and Economic Promotion Society.
A total of 15 locations in Salamanca are part of this feature film. The streets Bordadores, Compañía, Cervantes, de la Veracruz, and Tavira; the San Martín church, Plaza de San Benito, the Historic Building of the University of Salamanca, Patio de Escuelas, the Pontifical University, the Old Cathedral, the Roman Bridge, and the Plaza Mayor were chosen for the filming. To prepare all locations, coordination was necessary between different City Council departments such as Local Police, lighting, civil engineering, maintenance, parks and gardens, cleaning, and environment.
