Next Thursday, November 21st, the film SOBRENATURAL will premiere in Salamanca, at 8:30 PM at Cine Megarama (Vialia).

The feature film SOBRENATURAL, by director Juan Figueroa, has been awarded at the Sao Paulo International Film Festival, the Chicago International Film Festival, and the Sydney Film Festival, and after its national premiere at Cineteca Matadero in Madrid, it will be presented in Salamanca.

Sobrenatural is a film starring bullfighter Andrés Vázquez and features the participation of poet Francisco Brines. In Sobrenatural, an old bullfighter closes his eyes and walks in darkness towards his inner bull. International Festivals have highlighted the film's radical and daring language, as well as Andrés Vázquez's superb performance. It is not the first time Andrés Vázquez has starred in a film. He previously participated in Yo he visto la muerte (1965), by José María Forqué, and Tú solo (1984), by Teo Escamilla. He also shared a close friendship with Orson Welles, who even wrote a screenplay about the life of Juan Belmonte, which Andrés Vázquez would star in.

Sobrenatural is the second film of a triptych that Juan Figueroa has been working on since 2011. It is completed by Animal Piedra, starring sculptor Severiano Grande, and Hekatombe, with painter Ramiro Tapia.

Sobrenatural was shot in the lands of Salamanca and Zamora and had the help of the Junta de Castilla y León and the support of the Salamanca Film Commission and the Salamanca Provincial Council, which stimulated production and facilitated filming in the various locations. Prestigious professionals worked on the making of the film. Among them, Greek director of photography Yanis Giousef, sound editor Eduardo Castro, and art director Pilar Dorado. The film is a co-production of the Salamanca-based production company Unidad Astronómica and the Extremaduran Derivas Films.
