The Salamanca Tourism, Trade and Economic Promotion Society S.AU., through its audiovisual promotion department Salamanca Film Commission, has organized the II Salamanca Film Commission Audiovisual Conference which will be held on November 23, 24 and 26, at the Congress and Exhibition Palace of Castilla y León.

Following the success of the first edition, titled: “Stories to not forget”, based on the work of one of the great geniuses of Spanish audiovisual: “Chicho” Ibáñez Serrador and which attracted more than 3,000 spectators, the second edition will feature professionals from the audiovisual world and screenwriting. The conferences are, above all, aimed at communication students, and represent a unique opportunity to listen to experiences and anecdotes from the industry, as it is very difficult to gather such prestigious professionals in the city of Salamanca.

Admission to the programmed activities is free of charge, until full capacity is reached, and they will take place in the Minor Hall of the Congress and Exhibition Palace of Castilla y León.

The programmed events will be organized into three intense days consisting of two round tables and the screening of the feature film “Madre”, by director Rodrigo Sorogoyen:

The round tables will be composed of top-tier professionals from the Spanish audiovisual industry such as Vanesa Romero, Paloma Tejero, Carol Rodríguez, María Sereseky, José Camacho, Ángela Obón, Enrique Lojo, and Marina Rodríguez. Both tables will be enlivened by actor and presenter Carlos Urrutia.

Round table/colloquium: Women in Spanish audiovisuals.

Round table/colloquium in which women from the Spanish audiovisual industry will recount the arduous journey they have undertaken to be vital in our industry, the fundamental role they have achieved in cinema and television, the problems they face in their daily lives, and the challenges they have to overcome to achieve their goals.

Participants:

Vanesa Romero: gained fame as an actress by being part of the cast of Aquí no hay quien viva and La que se avecina. In addition to her career as a performer, she has written two books, Reflexiones de una rubia and Música para Sara, published by Penguin Random House. In November 2018, she made the leap to directing and directed the play En un baño, premiered at Teatros Luchana. She has continued her work as a director with the short film, currently in distribution, Un día de mierda, where she is also a screenwriter, and which has been selected, in just three months, in festivals such as: Gijón, Alicante, Tarazona, Ávila cine, etc. Vanesa is also the composer of the short film's soundtrack. She has two short films in development, Sexo a los 60, E-lección, where she is a screenwriter and director. Among her upcoming projects is the feature film adaptation of the book Música Sara, where Vanesa will be involved in the screenplay, and possibly in the direction.

Carol Rodríguez: film and television director. In 2021 she premiered her first fiction feature film Chavalas. Starring Vicky Luengo and Carolina Yuste, it won the Silver Biznaga Audience Award, ASECAN Best Debut Film Award, Movistar+ Best Film Award. The film, distributed by Filmax, was released in theaters in 2021 with over one hundred copies. During 2020, she made and wrote the fiction short film La vella lluita, nominated for the Gaudí Awards 2021, Honorary Mention of the Jury at Femcine and audience award at the La Gran Pantalla Festival. In 2019, she directed and wrote the series Bany Compartit, a sitcom produced by RTVE. Throughout her career, she has also written and directed documentaries, such as Raval, Plan de huída, for TV3 and dozens of fiction short films.

Paloma Tejero: Executive Producer at Ídolo Films production company and CEO of the PiaManagement representation agency. A lawyer specializing in intellectual property who, some years ago, traded law offices for the exciting world of representation and production. She joined the Auren firm, where she works in the Media and Entertainment department. During that time, she was responsible, among other things, for providing comprehensive legal advice for various film productions such as: Padre no hay más que uno and Sin rodeos, feature films directed by Santiago Segura; Los Rodríguez y el más allá, directed by Paco Arango, etc. She participates in advising on other films such as: Quién te cantará, a feature film directed by Carlos Vermut, etc.

In 2017, she re-joined Beatriz de la Gándara and Fernando Colomo to be in charge of production coordination and executive production assistance for the feature film Antes de la Quema, by Fernando Colomo. After this film, she has participated in numerous productions, in different roles such as: Juanita, directed by Leticia Tonos; Distancias, a short film by Susan Béjar, nominated for the Oscars.

Marina Sereseky: Argentinian director, screenwriter, and actress based in Spain. She is currently preparing her third fiction feature film Empieza el baile, whose screenplay won the Julio Alejandro Award granted by the SGAE Foundation, and developing several TV series projects of her own authorship. In the summer of 2019, she premiered Lo nunca visto in cinemas, a fiction feature film starring Carmen Machi and Pepón Nieto, among others. Her first feature film as a director, La puerta abierta, has two nominations for the Goya Awards. In addition, she obtained more than 30 awards at different festivals worldwide.

Her last short film, La boda, was nominated at the Goya Awards 2013 in the category of Best Fiction Short Film.

In 2012, the documentary Madres, 0’15 el minuto, received a Silver Biznaga at the Málaga Festival; with El Cortejo, it won more than 120 awards at festivals within and outside our borders.

José Camacho: a screenwriter of proven prestige with over 25 years of experience in the audiovisual industry, holds a degree in Communication Sciences (Image and Sound) from Complutense University of Madrid. Co-creator and screenwriter of iconic Spanish television series such as Siete Vidas, Un paso adelante, Médico de familia, Más que amigos, Colegio Mayor 2, or Manolo y Benito Corporeision. Additionally, he has worked on series such as Código fuego (Antena 3), La Pecera de Eva (Telecinco), Frágiles (Telecinco), Esto es otra historia (Telemadrid), Bajo la red (TVE), Mónica Chef (Disney Channel), Impares (Antena 3/Neox), Rabia (Cuatro), Vida Loca (Telecinco), Corto y Cambio (Comedy Central) or the international No te puedes esconder, recorded for Telemundo. Furthermore, for years he held the Fiction Direction for Qüid tv and Drive tv.

Ángela Obón: currently content manager at Ídolo Films production company, is a screenwriter and specialist in project coordination and development. In the last 19 years, she has collaborated on more than 22 television and film productions. In Spain, she has been a screenwriter for series such as El Internado for Antena 3 or Secretos de Estado for Tele5. Coordinator for Pelotas for TVE and Bajo la red for Playz, with the latter she won the Golden Globe Award for web series at the World Media Festival in Hamburg. Outside our country, she is co-creator of the successful comedy Herederos por Accidente for Claro Video in Mexico; screenwriter for Mariachis, the HBO series in the same country; and coordination assistant for Soy Luna, from Disney Productions, in Argentina. Jury member for awards such as the III Fiction Series Creation Laboratory, the SGAE Julio Alejandro Feature Film Screenplay Award, and the latest edition of the IsLABentura Canarias laboratory.

Enrique Lojo: Holds a degree in Audiovisual Communication from USC and a Master's in Film and Television Fiction Screenwriting from UPSA. He began his career as a screenwriter at Televisión de Galicia, in fiction series such as Luci, Serramoura, or A Estiba, among others. Linked to the webseries field, he has formed a tandem with David Sainz in several projects, notably Entertainment (Flooxer) and Mambo (Playz). He has written thrillers like La Sala (HBO) or Toy Boy (Netflix/AtresMedia) and comedies like El último show (HBO), awarded best fiction at FesTVal and for which he was nominated for best screenplay at the Iris Awards of the TV Academy. He has also worked for the development departments of important national production companies such as Isla Audiovisual, Plano a Plano, or Secuoya Studios. He is president of AGAG, the Galician screenwriters' union association.

Marina Rodríguez: screenwriter, director, and writer. Holds a degree in Advertising and PR. She has worked as a creative for international agencies (DDB, C14, VICE Iberia) and writes screenplays for film and television. Screenwriter of Chavalas, Silver Biznaga Audience Award, ASECAN Best Debut Film, and Movistar+ Best Film Award at the Málaga Festival. The film, distributed by Filmax, was released in cinemas in September 2021 with over one hundred copies. In 2020, she co-directed and wrote La vella Lluita, nominated for the Gaudí Awards 2020, Honorary Mention of the jury at FEMCINE, and selected at over 20 Festivals. In 2019, she wrote 11 chapters of Bany Compartit, a sitcom acquired by TVE. She also co-directed the documentary Raval, plan de fugida (2012), produced by Parallel 40 for TV3. She is currently preparing her second feature film The gang, with Carol Rodríguez.

The tables will be enlivened by actor and presenter Carlos Urrutia, with over 20 years of experience in the audiovisual medium. A graduate in Dramatic Arts, he has a long and successful television career, with iconic titles such as Al salir de clase, Hospital Central, El comisario, and La que se avecina for Tele 5. For RTVE, he has worked on series such as Todos los hombres sois iguales, Se puede, Obsesión, La verdad de Laura, Desaparecida, Cuéntame and more recently in Historias para no dormir, where he also serves as a producer. He made the leap to the big screen starring in the feature film Urubú, with great success from both audience and critics. In addition to his aforementioned television successes, Carlos has combined his work on the small screen with an extensive career on stage, performing in more than 25 theatrical plays with titles such as El águila y la Niebla or Vamos a contar mentiras, among others.

Screening of the feature film Madre.

The film Madre originated from the short film of the same title, with which Sorogoyen won the Goya for best short film and received an Oscar nomination. Madre continues the story of the short film. Starring actress Marta Nieto, who

with her performance won the best actress award at the Venice Film Festival and best actress at the José María Forqué Awards. Additionally, she was nominated for best actress at the Goyas, the Feroz, and the European Film Awards. The film received 3 Goya Award nominations, including best original screenplay.

The conferences have been organized by Salamanca Film Commission and have had the collaboration of the Congress and Exhibition Palace of Castilla y León.
