The Congress Palace will host this Thursday, April 27, at 8:00 PM, the round table “Women in Conflict Zones.” Organized by the audiovisual promotion office Salamanca Film Commission, the talk will feature the presence of journalist Antonio Pampliega, specialized in war conflicts and humanitarian crises, and Lafifa Sakhizada, a member of Afghanistan's national wheelchair basketball team.
The Councilor for Tourism, Ana Suarez, will also participate in this colloquium, moderated by actor and presenter Carlos Urrutia, which offers a unique opportunity to hear firsthand the tragic experience of living through a war. Admission is free, until full capacity.
Antonio Pampliega: Journalist, specialized in war conflicts and humanitarian crises. Since 2008, he has covered the wars in Iraq, Syria, Ukraine, Somalia, South Sudan, and Afghanistan. His journalistic work has received several national and international awards, including the Luchetta Award in 2020, the Juan Andrés García National Journalism Award in 2015, and La Buena Prensa (2015, 2019, and 2020). He is the author of En la oscuridad (Península, 2017), where he recounts the ten months he was kidnapped by Al Qaeda in Syria.
Latifa Sakhizada: Member of Afghanistan's national wheelchair basketball team. Champion of the 4th Indonesia Basketball Tournament in 2017 in the women's category. Prosthesis technician. She has worked for the International Red Cross since 2014.
Carlos Urrutia: With over 20 years of experience in the audiovisual industry and a degree in Dramatic Arts, he has a long and successful television career, with emblematic titles such as Al salir de clase, Hospital Central, El comisario, and La que se avecina for Tele 5. For RTVE, he has worked on the series “Todos los hombres sois iguales,” “Se puede,” “Obsesión,” “La verdad de Laura,” “Desaparecida,” “Cuéntame,” and more recently on “Historias para no dormir.”
