V INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL ON OLDER PEOPLE

The International Short Film Festival on Older People, organized by the Federation of Senior Citizens' Associations of Salamanca, returns in its most different edition, but safely and for all audiences.
From the Festival organization coordinated by FAMASA and in collaboration with the Hon. City Council and the University of Salamanca, it has been clear since the beginning of the exceptional situation we are experiencing the importance of continuing this event, which had to be held safely and without leaving anyone behind.
In this way, Salamanca will once again be a city of cinema and for cinema from the perspective of older people, this time in a virtual format. The screenings will take place through Festhome, the only platform created specifically for online festivals. By creating a username and password, you will be able to access the viewing of the Official Section short films, 23 short films that have been selected from 157 films from 17 different countries. Its use is very easy and intuitive, although if older people have any problems or complications, they can count on the help of the volunteer team from the Intergenerational Program of the USAL Social Affairs Service through 680602921, 661039940, 60313 5493 or ficmacontacto@gmail.com.
Over the past few months, a Jury made up of audiovisual sector professionals and older people has been working on the evaluation of the short films to award the prizes for Best FICMA 2020 Short Film and Vítor Award for best short film made by students, in addition to special mentions for Best Performance, Best Cinematography, and Best Screenplay.
The already traditional final Gala will be presented and broadcast via Youtube from the Faculty of Social Sciences with connections to all winners and collaborators. As is also customary, the Honorary Award will be presented to a prominent figure in cinema who highlights the importance of older people on the big screen. This time it goes to Benedicta Sánchez (85), winner of the Goya for best new actress for her leading role in “O que arde”.
The projections and gala can be followed via www.ficmacontacto.com. All information on the selected animation, fiction, and documentary short films can also be found (Abuelos más que una palabra, Ausencia, Blossom, E o resto é silencio, Eco, El primer día, Emma y el mundo, Ex-humación, Femenino singular, Futuro pasado, Hermann, La caza, Mateoren ama, Memories, Nategh, Por el brillo de tus ojos, Reminiscencia, Rosa, Saber perder, Taller Ramírez, Tutto il tempo che vogliamo, Una vida asegurada and Y ahora qué.) As in past editions, this unique event in its theme also has the support of the Salamanca Film Commission, as well as city businesses and private entities.
