The American Catholic channel EWTN films in Salamanca
The historic University building, the Library, the Pontifical University, Plaza Mayor, and Plaza de Anaya are the chosen locations, along with the cathedral, where they will film the Palm Sunday Mass
The American Catholic channel EWTN is filming today, Friday, and tomorrow, Sunday, a cultural tourism documentary about the Inquisition. The historic University building, the Library, the Pontifical University, Plaza Mayor, and Plaza de Anaya are the main locations for this project, which will also film the Palm Sunday Mass in the cathedral.
The Black Legend created around Spain due to the various Inquisition processes is the main theme of this documentary; with it, the Catholic network wants to show that it is a period that has been exaggerated over time.
For this purpose, the production team has sought documentation on the subject in the historical library, where they have been able to consult books on how censorship processes were carried out in the different publications during the periods when the Inquisition was in force.
The Catholic channel EWTN is filmed in English and will be translated into German, Spanish, and French. In addition to the US, it is broadcast in all South American countries and has a potential audience of 125 million people.
The three people forming the team will travel to other cities such as Ávila, Seville, El Escorial, and Madrid. For the entire filming process, EWTN has had the support of the Salamanca Film Commission regarding permits, production, and logistics.
