Imagined Falla is one of the most relevant projects of this year, in which so many institutions and programs are dedicated to remembering and honoring the figure of Manuel de Falla on the occasion of his 150th anniversary. In this project, Falla is approached as a living, malleable material, susceptible to being reinvented with a contemporary perspective that moves between jazz, modern harmony, symphonic rock, and classical music, without losing its essence.
Falla's original works become the starting point for new versions, where the harmonic and structural treatment offers a rich palette of nuances. The most popular pieces - such as La vida breve, Siete canciones populares españolas, or El amor brujo - coexist with less frequently performed ones, such as Mazurka, Fantasía Bætica, or Nocturno, expanded here into a trio format with a contemporary sensibility.
Alongside these arrangements, a new work is also presented: Suite Imaginada, an original piece by Moisés P. Sánchez that, rather than paying homage, delves into the multifaceted universe of Falla. On this sonic journey, he is accompanied by two internationally renowned artists: violinist Ana María Valderrama, one of the most outstanding performers of her generation, and double bassist Pablo Martín Caminero, whose versatility and lyricism bring a fundamental voice to the trio.
Moisés P. Sánchez (piano, composition and arrangements), Ana María Valderrama (violin) and Pablo Martín Caminero (double bass).
