Symphony Orchestra of the Superior Conservatory of Music of Castilla y León (COSCyL)

Sunday, November 22, 2026. CAEM. 7:00 p.m. Price: €15 (€7 for students and teachers of the Professional Conservatory, COSCyL, and Municipal School of Music and Dance). Music.

This proposal by the Symphony Orchestra of the Superior Conservatory of Music of Castilla y León (COSCyL) will bring together some of the most representative pieces from the Romantic and 20th-century repertoire. Under the direction of maestro Jaume Santonja, the program will open with Carl Maria von Weber's brilliant Overture to Der Freischütz, continue with Johannes Brahms' Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 77, performed by Santiago López, First Prize winner of the COSCyL Soloists Competition, and culminate with Dmitri Shostakovich's Symphony No. 6 in B minor, Op. 54, one of the Russian composer's most unique and expressive works.

Beyond the appeal of a program that combines the lyricism of Brahms, the theatrical energy of Weber, and the expressive intensity of Shostakovich, the concert stands out due to the participation of Jaume Santonja, one of the Spanish conductors with the greatest international projection. He is currently associate conductor of the Euskadiko Orkestra and principal guest conductor of the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano, in addition to regularly collaborating with some of the main European symphony ensembles.

His presence leading the COSCyL Symphony Orchestra constitutes an exceptional opportunity to enjoy in Salamanca one of the most outstanding conductors of the new generation of Spanish directors, in a concert designed to highlight the talent of its performers and the richness of the great symphonic repertoire.
