Rosario Street

10 minutes
Rosario Street in Salamanca is a thoroughfare with a history closely tied to the city's religious life and architecture. The street's name, "Rosario" (Rosary), is associated with religious devotion and, in particular, with the Colegio Menor del Rosario (Minor College of El Rosario). Although this building no longer exists, its name has endured in the street. It is also linked to the Colegio Mayor de Santa Catalina (Major College of Santa Catalina) and the Church of Santo Tomás Cantuariense, beside which it stands.
Rosario Street has undergone significant changes throughout the 20th century, especially following the construction of Gran Vía in the 1940s. These changes involved the demolition of old houses and the modification of the area's physiognomy, including the disappearance of the Plazuela del Pozo del Campo.

Currently, Rosario Street is a more discreet thoroughfare than others in the city center, but its historical value lies in its proximity to the church of Santo Tomás Cantuariense and in the remnants of its past that can be found in some of its buildings, such as coats of arms and architectural elements that remind us of its former grandeur.
