Trade History Journals

Publications

In early 2009, the Museum began publishing a series of monographs about Salamanca businesses and notable events related to the city's economy. By the end of 2011, the collection, generically titled Salamanca Trade and Industry History Journals, had reached nine issues:

The first issue was dedicated to Calón Bookstore, founded in the second half of the 19th century. The second focused on La Mallorquina, a pastry shop run by Don Santiago Bermejo Pollo. The third covered the Regional Exhibition of 1907, where Salamanca's merchants and industrialists attempted to emulate the entrepreneurial spirit of large cities. The fourth was about Almacenes Ara, founded by García Santana from Peñaranda. The fifth highlighted Santiago Jewelers, located in the Plaza Mayor since 1929. The sixth detailed the well-known Oria family grocery store. The seventh and eighth issues featured the renowned coachbuilders Maldonado and Bomati, and Núñez Bookstore and Printing Press, which was so influential in the city for over a hundred years. The most recent issue published to date focuses on Las casas Centenera, chronicling the history of La Popular, La Casa Verde, and the Gordo Centenera family's latest businesses.

The Trade History Journals are sold for the symbolic price of €1 at the Museum's premises, at the Tourism Society's offices in the Plaza Mayor, and in several central bookstores in the city.
