Heidelberg Original Cylinder Press. 1950

Heidelberg Original Cylinder Press. Dimensions 2.65 x 1.45 x 1.35cm. Cast steel. 3,600 kg. Manufactured by Schnellpressenfabrik AG Heidelberg. German company founded in 1850 by master machinist Andreas Hamm.
Donation from the Hontiveros family -Artes Gráficas Hontiveros-.

This printing machine was colloquially known as “The Prince of Presses,” due to both its reliability and its delicate precision in feeding itself paper, even extremely thin, thanks to its suction cups.

Artes Gráficas Hontiveros S.L Printing House was a century-old company from Béjar located in Plaza de la Piedad. During the first decades of the 20th century, the weekly Bejarano newspaper “El Porvenir” -founded by Don Francisco Gómez-Rodulfo López- was published in its facilities. Refounded in 1998 with the corporate name Artes Gráficas Hontiveros, S.L., it continues its activity today.
The renewal of its equipment caused the Heidelberg Original machine to become obsolete with respect to the current four-color printing system, although still in perfect working condition.
