LUIS MÉNDEZ ARTESANOS. A LOOK AT THE WORLD OF CHARRA FILIGREE

The eleventh Notebook of History of Commerce and Industry of Salamanca focuses on a company dedicated to jewelry and filigree work, a tradition so long in our province.
Luis Méndez Artesanos, the current name of the commercial firm featured in the publication, has its roots in the Salamanca mountains, specifically in Tamames. Through its long artisanal journey, and starting from traditional motifs, this family business has developed personal jewelry that has been recognized with multiple awards in national and international exhibitions.
The text has been prepared by Doctor Rosalba Francisca Ponce Riveros, who has deeply researched various topics of Salamancan ethnography, including filigree. This is why the discourse will approach the topic from an anthropological, not merely historical, perspective.
The notebooks are sold for 2.50 euros at the Tourism store in the Plaza Mayor and the Commerce Museum itself.
