The modernization of Salamanca from the mid-19th century was carried out thanks to the development of electricity, roads, the water supply network, or the arrival of the railway. These advances positively influenced industries such as milling, chocolate making, chemicals, or foundries, all of which are present in the museum's rooms.
The tour is organized into rooms that explain different relevant sectors such as Charro banking, the chemical industry, food industry, chocolate factories, or photographic studios. We also highlight the role of family sagas that enabled modernity to reach Salamanca; Gombau, Huebra, Mirat, Moneo, Bomati, Maculet, etc. are some of the key surnames to understand Salamanca's recent commercial history.
On the other hand, the collection "Sounds of Yesterday" is organized chronologically from the birth of radio until the nineteen seventies. Throughout the visit, you can listen to radio jingles and various recordings such as Zarra's famous goal or the broadcast of 23F (The Night of the Transistors).
Permanent exhibition: The Sounds of Yesterday. Agustín de Castro Collection.
Current temporary exhibition: XIV Photography Contest. Tattoo Studios.
