On October 31, 1570, she arrived at this house, a witness to her role as an entrepreneurial woman. The night of the souls took place in this building belonging to the Ovalle family. What was once a Carmelite convent for four years now belongs to the Servants of Saint Joseph and will go down in history as the inspiring place for “Vivo sin vivir en mí”.

The guided tour itinerary will also visit other places such as:

Pontifical University. It was the Jesuits, specifically Father Álvarez, who encouraged Teresa to visit Salamanca, a university city, and to start a new foundation here. They entrusted her with the writing of the Book of Foundations.

University of Salamanca. In 1922, with Don Miguel de Unamuno as vice-rector, the University granted her the title of Doctor Honoris Causa. The first recognition awarded by the University to a woman for her literary quality, her spirituality, and her reformist values. The relationship between Saint Teresa and the University is linked to the figures of Fray Luis de León, Saint John of the Cross, and Unamuno himself.

Convent of San Esteban. The Dominican fathers provided help to Saint Teresa of Jesus during her stay in Salamanca; proof of this connection is the confessional she used to visit in search of advice. This confessional can be visited inside the convent.

Plaza Mayor. We can contemplate the medallion dedicated to her figure, located in the Petrineros Pavilion. Next to her image, Salamanca Cathedral. are the medallions of Fray Luis de León or Miguel de Unamuno. From the set of chapels in the new church of Salamanca Cathedral, the one dedicated to Saint Teresa of Jesus stands out.
